Framing - done!

Our entertainment built-in framing is complete! We have a long way until it's finished, but the cable box and ps3 are officially off the floor or any temporary tray tables. We have an 18" component shelf that dives back to 9" on the upper shelf, but reappears as 18" in the hallway. And if you LEED nerds were wondering, we used 100% FSC-certified wood (last picture). :)

Congrats Aherns!

Many congratulations to our friends Tom and Sabrina Ahern. They recently started a new business, Ahern Hardscapes and Garden Design. Sabrina works with me (Leslie) at Leo A Daly, and both Grant and I know Tom through some landscape design classes from back in the day at UNL. Emilie Turns the Big 1

Our niece, Emilie, turned one last Wednesday - we had her birthday party on Saturday night in Waverly.

Really loving her pasta and meat sauce!

Emilie made a clean break for the presents.

Her first pair of shoes - she's not walking yet, but really close to it, so we got them a couple sizes too big.

Entertainment Center (cont')

Yes, we're actually making progress!My dad came up on Saturday morning to help Grant move a couple outlets above the component shelf. He works part-time for Belectrified in Lincoln. We were planning on moving a light switch as well, but turns out there are some weird codes in Elkhorn about coloring wires, so we'll probably take care of that next week when Rich Bolz (Belectrified owner) can come up to help. As you can see, Mia was the chief supervisor.

Grant also got a good start on the shelf framing. It stands 18" off the wall to hold our cable box and PS3/DVD player. Currently, we have a piece of cardboard across the shelf, with the components sitting on top. It's so nice to finally ditch the tray tables that were our entertainment center! :) Now we just have to start thinking about what colors we're gonna paint the wall and shelf...
