Four months!

Over the past month,we've been pretty busy. Grant worked on two pretty intense projects, Leslie did her two-week annual army training, and Jeane and Matt got married last weekend. Check out suhrfamilyalbum.shutterfly.com to see more of what we've been up to!

Nap Time

Grandma (Suhr) and Davidson came for a visit the past week while Grant accompanied Greg to Chicago for a headache clinic visit. We got a lot of shopping done, and solved the world's problems over a few awesome coffees and teas. Early next week Greg will come back to Omaha. Needless to say, Danica and Mia are napping to both recover and prepare for the next visit!

Basement Framing I

Last night began the framing of the basement. My dad came up from Waverly with a load of tools and he and Grant framed out our storage room and closet for the furnace and water heater. Next up, family room...

Danica and I supervised from upstairs.

And since Danica was in her swing, Mia found an opportune time to try out Danica's boppy pillow. Not the best fit.

Danica Lynn Suhr!

Turns out we have a stubborn little girl on our hands. The ultrasound indicated she was gaining weight fast and was breached (her head was up when it should have been ready to lead the way out). That meant it was time to schedule a c-section birth. Part of me was disappointed, but by the time our doctor described the potential process of turning a baby that big and still delivering would give us an almost 80% chance of an emergency c-section, scheduling seemed like a great idea. So we set the date for March 2, 2011.

Mom and baby doing well thanks to prayers from friends and family...
and a few low-grade narcotics. :)

And of course the grandparents got their turn.

Finally, a little alone time to catch a snooze with dad.

And we were headed home.

Emilie and Her Carousel Ride

This Sunday, I got to spend all day with Dianna and Emilie. We took naps, watched TV, went shopping, and found the carousel for a few rounds. Adam came home for dinner, so of course we included his cute picture too. :)

Releasing Emilie's Inner Diva!

On Saturday, Emilie and Dianna came up to Omaha to participate in the American Heart Association Heart Walk in downtown Omaha. Emilie stole the show in her red threads and hot sunglasses! :)

Viva Vdara!

We're back! Have been for about a week now, but have slowly been getting back into the swing of things. We went to Las Vegas last weekend, April 8-11, as a pseudo-family vacation. We met up with Jeane and her boyfriend Matt, and Greg & Collette (Grant's parents) at the MGM Grand on Thursday. When we arrived, we were even upgraded to the MGM Signature Towers - no objection here! Thursday night we walked the strip a couple times and feasted at the MGM Grand Buffet. Friday morning, we went out to Greg and Deb Wolfram's house for breakfast - it was nice to see something off the strip! If I remember correctly, Deb is Collete's cousin. During the afternoon, we walked all over the strip, ducking in and out of casinos, from the Wynn back to MGM. Friday night, we ate at Todai, an amazing seafood and sushi buffet. Mmmmm! Saturday, we walked around even more, and scored some free tickets to Blue Man Group from Bill Lager, a close friend of Greg's. Thanks Bill! I've posted a lot more pictures on my facebook profile, most of the ones in this post deal with the following paragraph...

Saturday morning, we cleaned up our room and the MGM, and Grant and I headed over to Vdara in CityCenter for our one night there. I worked on Vdara for my first 2 years at Leo A Daly. It was so amazing to see something you draw stand before you in built reality! When we checked in, were were upgraded (again) due to availability to a panoramic suite! Basically, a room with 3 walls of glass, 270 degrees of views! Check out this site to see a description and floorplan of our suite: http://www.vdara.com/suites/panoramic-suite.aspx. Enjoy these, and check out facebook for more from the rest of the weekend!

Vegas!

As of noon today, we'll be off work, leaving for a weekend in Las Vegas! I've never been before, so expect to see a lot of pictures on a following post. Jeane (Grant's sister), her boyfriend Matt, and Greg & Collette (Grant's parents) are all going - so I'll have plenty of qualified tour guides!

Happy Easter!

Last Sunday, we celebrated Easter in Lincoln with my extended family. As you can tell, it took four men to operate a grill (sometimes up to eight), and we all had plenty to eat!

Paul, George, Grant, & Ken checking one piece of steak. :)

My cousin Natalie McCormick, her husband Bill, and the boys Caleb and Jared.

My cousin, Nichole Mulcahy, and my niece Emilie.

Emilie eying mommy's food! (My sister, Dianna)

My grandparents (Granny & Pa), Leonard & VeraGene Hill.

Emilie Turns the Big 1

Our niece, Emilie, turned one last Wednesday - we had her birthday party on Saturday night in Waverly.
Really loving her pasta and meat sauce!

Emilie made a clean break for the presents.

Her first pair of shoes - she's not walking yet, but really close to it, so we got them a couple sizes too big.

Going through her new wardrobe.

We're gonna have to fix this whole open-mouth kissing thing before long...

Entertainment Center (cont')

Yes, we're actually making progress! My dad came up on Saturday morning to help Grant move a couple outlets above the component shelf. He works part-time for Belectrified in Lincoln. We were planning on moving a light switch as well, but turns out there are some weird codes in Elkhorn about coloring wires, so we'll probably take care of that next week when Rich Bolz (Belectrified owner) can come up to help. As you can see, Mia was the chief supervisor.

Grant also got a good start on the shelf framing. It stands 18" off the wall to hold our cable box and PS3/DVD player. Currently, we have a piece of cardboard across the shelf, with the components sitting on top. It's so nice to finally ditch the tray tables that were our entertainment center! :) Now we just have to start thinking about what colors we're gonna paint the wall and shelf...

House Progress...

It's starting to feel a bit like a home. I've been joking that the only thing we have up on the walls is the TV - and that I think we're scared to put that first wall anchor in to hang anything. ...well, we did it! We hung our wedding crosstitch from AliceAnn, the "Suhr" piece from Jeane, and started a collage of family pictures in the dining room. The last pic is of our new chair. It's black leather with a woven seatbelt backing - really fun! We've even ordered a new couch that will be in the end of February. Who knew we could actually make progress?

New House: Move Day!

As of last night... WE'RE IN! My dad and I switched vehicles (I now drive a huge F-150 for a few days), and Grant and I were able to move all the big stuff yesterday. Our only exceptions are the washer and dryer, our dining room table, and hutch. For some reason, I believe Grant doubts my brut strength! The first picture shows a filled third stall of our garage. Grant likes the second picture - imagine that. We ended up finding a great deal at the NFMart on a flatscreen TV for the living room that we couldn't pass up. (The seating/viewing area in the room is pretty shallow, and his 52" TV was too big.) Needless to say, when they're sitting together, the creative juices start flowing for a wall of TVs to watch multiple football games, etc. Yeah, not gonna happen. :) There's a picture of our finished, and already cluttered kitchen, and our fridge. Yogurt (for my breakfast this morning), champagne (for our first night in the new house), Burning Skye Ale (good beer to go with wings), and ketchup (for the potato wedges). And our first meal... drumroll please... Wings and wedges 'to go' from Buffalo Wild Wings. I know, so fancy!

Long story short - we grabbed enough stuff for one night, one shower, a set of sheets, one set of dress clothes for work, one meal for Mia, and SPENT THE FIRST NIGHT IN OUR NEW HOUSE!!!
